LOS ANGELES – After allowing three left unanswered goals to surrender an earlier two-goal lead, the Kings performed some late-game magic in a 4-3 shootout make an impression on the Montreal Canadiens Thursday night from STAPLES Center.

The Kings left the gate hot, overwhelming Montreal as they took a 2-0 direct in the opening frame, outshooting the actual Canadiens 13-2.

“We came out with the right mindset, we came out shooting,” stated Jake Muzzin after the win. “That has been big for us; it was great to get the ball rolling to start. There were some opportunities to put the video game away in the second so we couldn’t, that gave them life but we shouldn’big t need the late game heroics as we capitalize on our chances.”

During their particular first power play of the evening,Corey Crawford Jersey Marian Gaborik got the Kings on board with a nifty re-direction in front of Dustin Tokarski’s net. After receiving a pass from Jake Muzzin, Brayden McNabb fired a slap chance from the top of Montreal’s zoom, which Gaborik tracked the entire way before tipping past Tokarski.

Just over four minutes after Gaborik laid to rest the Kings’ first goal of the evening, Jeff Carter upped the Kings’ lead to two. Carter damaged a puck low to Dustin Brown, then fled directly towards Montreal’s net. Brown found Carter with a pass on the rear door, which he punched earlier Tokarski to give the Kings a 2-0 direct.

The Canadiens responded with a strong second period,Patrick Kane Jersey scoring two goals to even the score ahead of heading into the second intermission.

“We should’ve been up three or four to nothing,” Darryl Sutter noted with the Kings’ strong start. “We didn’big t put it away when we acquired glorious opportunities in the next period.”

Max Pacioretty scored Montreal’s 3rd unanswered goal of the evening just over seven minutes into the third, giving the Canadiens their first lead of the contest. The actual Kings suddenly found on their own on their heels, until these folks were granted a power play with One:35 remaining in regulation.

With within minute left in legislation,T-Shirt and with Jonathan Quick pulled from the Kings’ net, the Kings worked a 6-on-4 power play which eventually resulted in a Marian Gaborik game-tying goal. Gaborik received a pass through Anze Kopitar behind Montreal’s net, left in front and fired any well-placed shot to the far aspect past Tokarski to tie the game with 45 seconds to experience.

Both teams played through a scoreless overtime period, the Kings enrolling the only shot on objective during the five-minute frame.

In the shootout, Marian Gaborik as well as Jeff Carter scored for your Kings in the first two models; David Desharnais and Max Pacioretty obtained for the Canadiens in the second and third rounds,Andrew Shaw Jersey and Anze Kopitar netted the game-deciding goal in the fourth spherical. Even with all the win, the Kings complete the night still outside of a Western Conference playoff position. The Kings are tied from 74 points with Calgary for that Pacific Division’s third and final playoff spot, but the Fire flames hold the tiebreaker. The Kings are two points behind the Winnipeg Planes for the second and ultimate wild-card berth.
